The Miracle of Christmas

DECEMBER 2020

“THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS”

As the Christmas Season is upon us, I am reminded of the trip members of the Spirit of Elijah Kingdom Church took some years ago to the Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, PA, to see the play “Miracle of Christmas”.  Oh! how they can bring the Scriptures to life!  I remembered being in awe of the vastness of the cast, the beauty of all the colors, the lights, the music—all the scenes around the birth of Jesus and there was so much excitement about the story of our Savior.

As I meditated on this, I got excited all over again as we are entering the Christmas Season.  You might ask, what’s the excitement about especially in 2020 with all that has happened due to the pandemic?  You know the saying “Jesus is the Reason for the Season”? Well He truly is!  It is not a cliché!

We still can get excited about the Miracle of Christmas because it STILL IS!  John 3:16 (NIV) tells us “ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  This just wasn’t for the Bible days—it’s still for Today!

John 1:1-13 & 1:14 (NIV), tells us, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Reading these scriptures, I am excited about the Miracle of Christmas!  For those of us who have received the Miracle of Christmas—accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior—we can get excited! For those who have not yet accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior—you can get excited because you can experience the Miracle of Christmas because Jesus is alive and with open arms welcomes You. Romans 10:9 (NKJV) says:
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

What’s the excitement about?  The Miracle of Christmas didn’t stop at our Savior being born.  The Miracle of Christmas also includes the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and King!  John 10:10 (NKJV) tells us “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

The Miracle of Christmas is for us Today—we can have life and have it more abundantly.

As you are celebrating this Christmas Season with your families and loved ones though may be different—meditate on the Miracle of Christmas in your life.  Thinking of Christmas—should always cause us to think of Jesus first!

Writing this I was reminded of a song of long ago “Always Remember”.  It’s a simple song but the words are so powerful.  May you and your families be blessed this Christmas Season and allow the True Light and Love of God fill your hearts and minds.

Words to the Song:

Always Remember Jesus, Jesus; Always Remember Jesus, Jesus. Always keep Him on Your Mind! Always Remember Jesus, Jesus; Always Remember Jesus, Jesus. Always keep Him on Your Mind! Always keep Him on Your Mind! Always keep Him on Your Mind!
